Banbury Cross Players (BCP) were formed as an amateur theatre society in 1945 and have maintained a high standard of amateur theatre for over sixty years.
Our 60th Anniversary was celebrated on 23rd April 2005 where past members spent an evening with present members dining, swapping anecdotes.
A few of the founder members are still with us today and enjoy Honorary membership status.
Peggy Lester continues to help in the Green Room with Makeup & Hair while Neville Turner regularly supports the Tuesday evening social calendar. You have certainly left the rest of us a legacy to live up to!
We are always looking to recruit new members to share the enjoyment of this rather strange past-time. No previous acting/crew experience is needed (we are an amateur society after all!).
All we ask of new members is to bring a bucketful of enthusiasm with them!
Enthusiasm is needed in all aspects of the theatre from set design, set build, directing, making copious amounts of coffee - Oh! and acting too!
Please come and visit us on one of our Tuesday social evenings!
We also enjoy the patronage of our Gold Card Holders who support our performances.
The Society has endeavoured to put on 4 productions a year (occasionally there have been five!) with a mix of interests ranging from a family show eg a Pantomime, a thriller period Drama plus something else for the more 'theatrical' expectations.
The theatre in The Mill Arts Centre, Spiceball Park in Banbury is the venue for our productions.
We also meet every Tuesday evening at the Mill to socialise, read Plays, attend lectures from visiting Directors / Producers and generally talk 'Theatre' to like minded friends.
