This short play is one of a diversity of short plays by Noel Coward written around 1939.

We all recognise Noel's style from light hearted, humorous and romantic plays such as Hay Fever, Present Laughter and Private Lives.

Fumed Oak is nothing like any of these. It is curiously described as "An unpleasant Comedy".

Dealing with momentous events in the lives of the Gow family. A family of working class people comprising of Henry Gow (father), Doris (his wife), Elsie (his daughter) and Mrs. Rocket (his mother-in-law).

The action takes place over the course of a single day and has quite a surprising outcome!

Wanted!

A school leather Satchel for props
